All four pictures are painted with watercolours and coffee. I've used coffee for shading the ribbons.

Edit: I won the art contest at RingCon 2012(Lord of the Rings Convention in, Bonn, Germany) in the category : picture book

watercolors and coffee? did you use the coffee as the water substitute? also would that work for tea (earl grey) do you think?

Yes, I used coffee(expresso)instead of the watercolor. If you use tea like Earl Grey tea, try to use a long-brewed strong tea. It might be a little bit brighter than coffee but should work as well.
